Serato Video General Discussion

Talk about Serato Video and Video-SL.

New to VSL and have some questions about export settings (yes, I RTM ;-)

Hi all! I've been reading up on the many posts concerning the best settings for converting/exporting video to work with VSL. However I still have some questions.

I'm working on a Macbook Pro 2,4ghz, 4gigs ram, 256vram. Latest leopard, SSL 1.8.3, VSL 1.0.2.

From what I've read these settings should work fine with vsl:
- format mp4 or H.264
- dimensions: 640x480
- bitrate between 2000 and 3000
- framerate 30
- keyframes every 20
- audio: AAC 160kbps or higher

Now what I'm wondering:
- I can choose between streaming and non streaming: which is best?
- when changing framerate I can "reorden frames": do I do this or not?
- for the audio I have the choice between Average Bit Rate or Constant bitrate: which one is best?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also if you have any comments about the settings I assume are correct, let me know!

Greetz,

your settings look good. go 3000 on your bitrate though. your computer can handle it. streaming isn't a huge deal but i do it anyway.
don't change framerate. keep it as source.
average bitrate is better, for audio and video.

Hi! I'm back again, I'm trying out a few programs for converting.

Now in Visualhub I can't seem to find an option to set the keyframes. Isn't this possible with Visualhub?

In Sorenson Squeeze 4 (not 5) there isn't a H.264 option. Will mp4 be as good? From what I've read I think H.264 gives smaller size but more stress on the CPU.

Let me know!
Thanks!

Ok, I can't seem to find the "edit" button on this forum...

Just wanted to say in Visualhub I choose MP4 --> advanced --> bitrate 3000, 2 cycles, that seems to be the only things I'm able to change that would make sense. However no keyframe option...
