Hello,
First time posting here - I used to DJ with Serato but now I'm more focused on producing and engineering music. I love using Serato Sample (especially for the stems feature) and was excited to dive into the new Hex FX plugin.
After testing it out I ended up purchasing it because I loved the sound and variety of the effects but I think the interface needs some updates, especially to use it as a mixing tool. I tried emailing support and was directed here so I'm copying what I sent to them in hopes someone from Serato reads this. I searched to check if anyone had posted about this yet but strangely didn't see anything.
Firstly, a redo/undo button internally would be huge. There are so many parameters to mess with you could easily go overboard and need to go back. I've already had to restart several sessions because the parameters did not respond to my DAWs undo and there isn't an internal one (unless I'm missing this?).
Secondly, I need to be able to set my default preset to something other than "A Hex Melody Warbler" every time. I'd honestly love for it to just load empty as a default, that seems like a no-brainer to me. Every time I load an instance of the plugin on something I'm listening to it's so extreme and jarring and throws me off my workflow.
Third isn't a suggestion but rather a bug I've discovered in Ableton on a Mac M1- the unlink button for macro knobs works in parameters but I can't seem to make new links or connections when I right-click on a button that isn't currently linked...all I get is the greyed-out text of "unlink."
There's probably others but those were the main ones that came to mind. Despite these issues, I've been using it regularly since I bought it.
I hope you guys continue to take feedback and continue to update this product as all the effects sound amazing and are very inspiring but some very basic user interface things need to be ironed out.
Thank you,
Sam

spamuelplz,
Welcome to the Serato forum and thanks for your detailed suggestions!
Let me address your points separately.
Yeah this can be a little frustrating and we've had a lot of requests for this, so we're hoping to include a Undo/Redo feature in an update. I can't tell you the date yet but keep an eye out!
You can actually achieve this now - if you open the Preset Browser (click on the name of the loaded Preset), you are able to right-click on presets in the browser list and select 'Set As Default', which will make that Preset the one that loads on new sessions. If you want this to be a blank preset you just need to save a blank one and set it as the default.
This isn't a bug, but rather how it just works. The 'Link' function just lets you unlink or relink a parameter that has a pre-existing association. If there is no assiciation (i.e it doesn't turn when the parent macro knob is adjusted) then there is nothing to link. However, we realise people are wanting more control of how the parameters are controlled via the macros so we are planning on an update that really opens this functionality up a lot. I can't say too much more than that right now but know we're all over it :)
Thank you again for detailed suggestions, glad to hear you're enjoying Hex FX!

Great feedback, Sam! Totally agree—a redo/undo feature and customizable default preset would massively improve the workflow. The macro knob issue on M1 Macs sounds like a real blocker too—hopefully Serato sees this and pushes an update soon.

Yeah, I agree with you. Undo/redo and custom default presets would make things much easier. The macro link issue is also something that needs fixing. Good to see Serato is already working on updates.

Hello, may I suggest a kind of sequencer to trigger the fx depending on the timeline. Like effectrix or shaperbox...
