Hey Serato, how about a version for Android? (Not to start a flame war, but everyone doesn't use IOS).
Case in point: I have a Numark dj2go2 touch. While it works fine on a laptop with Serato, there's nothing readily available on the Android market. Everyone mentions Djay software, but it was primarily for IOS, and is severely stripped down if you have an Android OS (so much to the point that it does not work for most). The dj2go2 touch with a Samsung S9 Ultra (or any premium Android device) and Serato would be ultra-compact, allowing DJing completely on the fly. I'm sensing a revenue stream here.... How about it?

The issue with Android is that there are hundreds (if not thousands) of configurations out there. Additionally most of the device manufacturers are not issuing updates to the latest versions of the OS and most Android usually are slower in updating their devices to the newest OS. These in general are the reasons why some apps are stripped down on Android or not even released on that platform.
The company I used to work for had these issues when developing for mobile phones. According to our data of more than 1 million users more than 80 % of iOS users were on the last two versions while Android users were at less than 30 % with the majority on a version that was 4 years old.
When we stopped supporting the 6-7 year old versions of the platforms we had almost no complaints by iOS users but several hundreds from Android users.
If Serato made a mobile app (which seems unlikely to me) it probably would go the same route as djay.

The developers of Mixxx are working on an Android version of Mixxx, and if you're interested, they look forward to your help.

So what you are really saying is, "I need to convert to iOS... (LOL)" "We are the BORG, you will be assimilated... Resistance is futile..."
I see what you mean though. The onus should really be on the device owners to make sure they are running the latest version. Just like minimum specs for running Serato for the other platforms. "You have to this tall to ride this ride..." I guess the same can be said for using a different platform.
Oooooh well.

Android isn’t a multimedia realtime OS ported from desktop OS like iOS. Android was a copycat from Google when the first iPhone was released and neglected essential parts in its kernel because it was thought as “OS for smartphone” in a moment that smartphone meaned iPhone. Also the lack of proper “store” made the full ecosystem the madness you finally can understand.
Those two pieces made it a joke against iOS for music (and video) production. Luckly things seem evolve and apps like DaVinci became multiplatform but the business model for djing apps isn’t comparable. People will get DaVince (since is free) as complement but nobody will buy a 20 bucks (or subscription model based) djing apps if it hasn’t all the desktop features and even so, neither (look at DjPlayer with DVS support since first iPad around 2012)
So,
Yes if you want a Sdj-like in a tablet you only have one path: Apple.
You can go for Surface but good luck with battery and other issues like stems and heat.
I will love to see brands releasing a dedicated multimedia OS (like BeOS or ELKOS) so we can rid of Apple dependency but then… apps. There are lots of apps for iPad some of them amazingly weird and some of them standards (like FabFilter) that will be never ported to Android due its business model. Some will be like DaVinci…
And the worst/best is you can use some of them in your mac just from your iPad purchases with no extra cost. Apps like Lumbeat iBassist and Drummers to name an example of killer app (and killer hardware since these are better than even some hardware counterparts in their field) etc etc.
For multimedia, music and video making there’s no choice. You only think there’s because you didn’t tried it or you are an integrist (which is ok and we need people like that) but probably not working professionally with musicking tools (not saying bad).
Amateur or integrist linux artists could let themselves sacrifice comfortability for ethics or any reason and it’s ok. Professional musicking people will go Apple 99% of the times or standalone hardware if not.
It’s hard to swallow and a shit but it’s a fact. Apple doesn’t “mind control” or make people dumb… make things work frictionless (or less frictionless than competency) and takes care of stability, reliability… so as “tools” are the less painful (making them the best by elimination).
I know people buying macbooks back in the day just for running SSL… leaving these “clean” of anything else just because were rock solid as tool (macintel era carbonate white macbooks). Nowadays you can run Djay with stems and DVS over an iPhone and the key is the OS, not so much the hardware (but being developed in junction helps with debuging)
Appstore makes also easy for developers to have a sales channel. It’s far from perfect but because it wasn’t developed with indie developers in mind but for majors and still these could make a living and grow.
IDK… I will love to see alternatives but that’s the world we live in…
