Since Serato 4.0, it's no longer possible to change a filename by one or two characters if it's incorrect.
This was possible in older versions of Serato. Please bring back this functionality so it works even if the filename is almost identical, except for a few characters, or let us replace the file with a different one using the new drop-down menu.
Now I have to delete the file, add it again, and then add it to all the crates where it was previously located.

Changing the file name or song name is still possible.. I am not sure exactly if this is your problem. Also if you are using a Mac give full permissions to Serato to access your music directory or folder within macOS Security settings.
Hope this helps.

I meant when I edit the file name directly.
For example:
artist_-_title.mp3
to
artist - title.mp3
This means the song is no longer available through the library until you click "relocate" and it's found again. This doesn't work in version 4.x.x.
I didn't know you could edit the filename directly in Serato.

Actually I meant editing the name throught Serato playlist.
I always knew that if anything chnages on the original track you always had to relocate.
Never had this kind of issue so I wouldn't really know if they had such functionality originally.

this is normal, if you edit any file names in Serato, Serato then disregards the old named file, and only recocnizes the new file name, another words it creates a duplicate.
if you do this, you must us the "Rescan ID3 Tags"
this will turn the old track that you renamed orange then you simply ctrl+Del to remove it from your library.
this is how I deal with this issue, mind you I also use "Itch Sync" to add all the files that I renamed back into my library, I see that you do this manually, but this Java app will do it automatically.
