Waveforms Load Slowly and Tag Writing Issue.....

I have a Macbook Pro 2.0 Ghz Quad Core with 8 Gb or ram and I'm running Lion. (Version 2.3.1. of Serato). I have found when I load a new song the waveforms take a few seconds to completely load. There is also a quick freeze to the serato program as it loads. All files have been analyzed. I also have the tag writing issue as many people have been stating. I was just wondering if there is something I can do it this point. Everything, music and video are on an external hard drive. Thanks for the help. I haven't had a crash yet and hoping I will not have one in the future.

Update to 2.3.3 (if you use vsl or me) 2.4.1 of you use SV.

Then rename the metadata folder in your serato folder to metadata_OLD.

Then re analyze all your files.

Go into your serato folder and check the new metadata folder look at the files if there mp4 you need to download mpegstreamclip and load them files and save as to put them i to a new mp4 container.

If the files are not mp4 then download handbrake and the serato preset and reencode those files with the serato preset.

Now delete the original and replace with these new clean mp4d add them to your library and reanalyze.

Once dont goto the all crate open up a column you dont ever use like the lable column then press ctrl a to hightlight all your files then edit the lable column and type say number 1 key then enter it will ask if your sure to edit x amount press yes. You will get beachball for awhile but it will update all the tags.

Now you should no longer get tag writing all the time.

But you will find you have to re add alot of cue points and also re tagging.

There has been some big changes and doing all above will get you up and running.

Also, how do you go about editing only one column after selecting it in the all folder.

Just double click then it will go to edit so u can type. It will only change that column not the other columns

So I ran everything through the entire process stated above. As of right now I have had no tags writing (except when I add a cue point, loop, etc) and the waveforms are loading faster than they did before. Process has gone great so far. Gonna test it out on a gig tomorrow night. Thanks Woolsey....

thats cool, there is some tag writing fixes in the new beta version so when that drops you should be good togo (But if you use VSL OR ME then you will have to stick with 2.3.3)
