Hi folks. Just looking for some quick help with Sony Vegas for those who use it. I have edited a couple of .VOB files but i can really figure out how to save the edited file as a .VOB file. There are some options that allow you to render the file as say .avi or .mpg. I don't want to that as i fear there may be encoding taking place even if i render the file as a .mpg
Any clues??

yes encoding will take place either way m8. if your gonna use it for ssl then render to mp4/h.264 @ least 2500kbps
if your gonna burn to dvd their is a dvd architect template that will work good. just make sure audio is checked. this will be a mpg.

if you encode to .mpeg, just change the extention afterwards to .vob and it'll work just fine. As i understand it (im still learning) mpeg is the codec and vob is the container

You have to render an mpeg2 video stream (recommend 8mbps VBR). Then for best audio you have to render to 16bit 48khz WAV (Uncompressed).
Then remux the files together.
Rendering to just mpeg2 with mpeg2 audio will not get great audio. Maximum audio bitrate for mpeg2 is 384kbps using Sony Vegas, which is not even as good as 256k mp3 since it's an older technology.

The rain becomes a blessing for growth, silence becomes a blessing for reflection, and challenges become blessings in disguise. Blessing quotes remind us that life isn’t about what we don’t have, but about recognizing what we do have and cherishing it deeply. They calm our worries, soften our anger, and open our hearts to love. In a noisy world full of comparison and rush, blessing quotes are like quiet prayers that bring us back to peace.

I agree with you rendering to another format can definitely cause re-encoding and quality loss. It’d be great if Vegas allowed direct .VOB export to keep things exactly as they are.
