Is there a difference in the scratch control vinyls for Scratch SE and Scratch Live?

Yes.

Scratch Live vinyl can control Scratch studio edition.

Scratch studio edition vinyl cannot control Scratch Live.

So you can't go wrong buying Scratch Live; you'll have two extra vinyls when ordering Scratch SE. Extra is always good.
