Labels are a cage from which to escape, but one thing...my shit will be interesting and tight.

Well, here's the thing. I have a regular video camera that connects to my mac via Firewire and I can use as a webcam. But, I thought, well I'll just buy a new one. The apple store doesn't carry the iSight camera anymore. I guess since every laptop comes with built-in cameras they discontinued it.

I don't want to buy another regular camera since I already have one!

what are you folks using for sound? I'm thinking my old lexicon sound card with logitec usb camera...or should I just use the mic built into the camera?

PC will be the comm/cast device...any advice will be appreciated. This is new to me.

I am supposed to give it a go for the first time tonight (no virgin). I am using the same camera as you. As for sound I have a line out of my amp I put to a line in on my desktop. I have a SoundBlaster PCI soundcard. Nothing special but recordings come out pretty good. Good enough to listen to in the car but not professional quality.

Hopefully this will work out ok.

I would think your soundcard would be the better choice... at least over a mic.... anybody else?

yep...by all means DO NOT use the mic on the camera...just do like DPR250R and have a line out from ur mixer going into the line in (or mic in - not sure) of ur desktop/laptop's sound card...try getting into the chatroom and i'm sure CARY will walk u through it

the website figures out all the shit for you basically, if knows you have a cam attached - asks if you want to allow the connection to be live.. you're done.

it chooses your default from your sound card settings, I'd venture a yes to that question.. I have 2 sound cards loaded on my laptop and it chose the Sound Blaster line in... very nice.

I noticed that - you have the driver loaded...and it sees it anticipating being able to attach to the device.

Wrong info PC guy. I have a Mac. No driver needed for a cam.

What I learned yesterday is that the signal is really hot.

I was using my 57 and had the booth out at about 2, the channel gains at like 3.5, had to keep my bass on each channel down to about 3.5

I was running into the microphone jack on a 2nd laptop that has the camera built in...I turned the microphone volume on the laptop down to about 4, the main laptop volume to about 2, and the volume in the stickam player to about 2 and still when I brought bass up to 4 or 5 there was distortion even though nothing was hitting red anywhere.

I think that is due to the 'mic' input.. I did 'line in' without issue.

and for you mac tough guy, - you gonna tell me that your pretty cute white thing DOESN'T have drivers, or that they are PRELOADED within the OS??

Hooking up your stuff!

My preffer Method.

I Use Booth Output , So i can Control My Main without messing the Audio coming out to stickam.

Put the Volume to a lower level....listners Can Always ADJUST their VOLUME Up & DOWN. ALways Play Green on ur MIXER LEVELS, Orange on STICKAM.... NO RED'S PLEASE!!!!


My Layout for Audio:

Mixer Out > RCA Cables > RCA 1/8" Adapter > To MIC Input COMP


I tried Using My Line Input, comp is not recognizing that input. I'm not using an External Sound card probably that's why.


Learn your settings....SPot check with the Other DJ...And try to stick with that settings. Every Mixer has Different OUTPUT. So everyone's calibration is different also.

As far as VIDEO...stickam will find ur USB CAM.







Schedule wise: I think i need to Revamp it.

Alot of Dj's are getting on the bandwagon ( which is good!!)
Now we need to make room for the other DJ's coming ON BOARD!

I'll be getting my cam today and HOPEFULLY it will work on my mac since it's a PC one but there's a Mac OSX driver available for it. :)

haha some asswipe in our building disconnected the ethernet switch in the telephone room and the whole building went offline. Then someone just logged in in the middle of my set LOL.

oh yea, everyone who saw my leopard install on my PC laptop (its hacked to run natively on non intel macs, google it) it ran fine, up till 4 hours into it's testing phase with serato and:

it took a crap LOL.
- USB drop outs
- freezing on every song load
- when it hits a cue point it freezes

haha. I wasn't really expecting it to run flawless, it was serato running on leopard (which hasn't been tested), running on an architecture it wasn't built for.

It was all for shits and giggles.

As far as ebay, the only webcams that are compatible with macs are only supported by 10.4+


I'm still on 10.3.9 and I can't upgrade as I would have to upgrade Pro Tools and all kinds of other expensive stuff I have. Not worth it. Not for a web show that only has 25 people or less. lol

Oh...ummmm just to make you aware, Stovepiper has been working on one for a few days now, so we may have to vote on which one we want to keep.

since you were not around when i put it up as i stated 6 or so months ago.. youll prob say im calling bullshit. and trying to take some credit for cary's now successfull page. well im verry happy it got going well & im glad cary started it out great. im happy the fourm members are doing somthing fun,creative and getting along brining unity & understanding to the new digital dj world using serato and i wish my page would have done better but i put a close on it. as simple as that. and cary should take all the credit iun the world he deserves it.

i've already started the site re-design, cary asked me a couple of weeks ago. i've done the banner and a new logo & profile pic, still working on the background. i will need help with the html if anyone can help me, i'm a bit crap at things like that.

@ mac users: anyone using a third-party cam (not a built-in cam or isight)? I finally found a driver to run the logitech cam I have on the imac G5, but the thing only works on quicktime-based stuff. Stickam is flash-based so it's not recognizing the camera. If someone can point me to a decent third party cam or a good driver (the one I already tried was called maccam), I'd appreciate it!!

It was an honest mistake.

We were all watching him wondering when you were going to take over... We thought once you logged in it would boot him out.

We all wanted to watch you spin.

I had a lengthy discussion with one of the other members that are holding down a show on Stickam and have collected a rather large following. I asked about their method of transitions. They stated that Stickam has about a 50/50 chance of a smooth transition, and the normally they warn their peeps in advance and tell them to login again in a few minutes.

Attempting the Seemless transfer:
If someone is broadcasting currently [DJ A] - they keep it going till the designated time is reached and the next person [DJ B] has notified [A] that they are ready. Then [A] logins to the site, [B] waits a bit and then clicks the X to leave. This sometimes keep the place full of the patrons and the "SWAP" of A to B is seamless. Nobody gets bounced, again - perhaps we can perfect this in the near future.

Also - if you haven't noticed yet, the place is full of kids. Kids that want high ratings!!! Funny - we have the same goal. So be nice to everyone.. This site I was speaking with has had many run ins with Stickam over content [flesh flashing], which we surely will not have problems with ['cept J0be] but then again, they stressed to me it's babygames at best and getting a pack of kids to start flaggin our shit and gaining us UNWANTED ATTENTION is the last thing we want or need.
